Expert Advice & Guidance – Since 1996 – Veteran Owned “United States Marine Corps”-
First Meridian Mortgage Corporation is a trusted mortgage broker licensed to do business in Virginia, Maryland and District of Columbia. The company was founded by Kevin Retcher in Fairfax Virginia in 1996 and has grown into a premiere mortgage company in the Washington DC Metro Area. First Meridian’s purpose is to offer the most competitive mortgage interest rates and expert advice and guidance. First Meridian is extremely competitive because of its low overhead, and being signed up with approximately 30-40 major banks and mortgage providers. First Meridian Mortgage Corporation is a Veteran Owned business. We specialize in the purchase market by offering no closing cost purchases, lender credits toward closing, often with the lowest rates in town. We are extremely knowledgeable in government lending of VA and FHA Loans. As a veteran I understand that the VA Loan is one of our most important benefits and is often overlooked.
Kevin Retcher is proud of our most used program “The No Closing Cost Refinance Program”. We have been originating this program since 1996. The best rate is not always the best loan for you. Often cost and time should be evaluated before deciding on a loan. The No Closing Cost Refinance allows one to chase the interest rates down without incurring any closing cost, and without increasing the principal of the loan. This program can be used with VA Loans, FHA Loans, Conventional, Jumbo’s and of course Adjustable Rate Mortgages. First Meridian believes in educating the client, Realtor, or whomever I talk to and my time and advise are free.

Kevin Retcher –
I grew up in a small town in North Western Ohio population around 15,000. My Parents were extremely hard workers to the point that my father had two jobs for most of my life, and they taught those values to me at an early age. My first job was a newspaper route and umpiring little league baseball. I then was a night manager of a local pizza shop “Village Inn Pizza” in early 80’s. At the Age of 18, three weeks after graduation I enlisted into the United States Marine Corps. While in the Marine Corp I had the pleasure of being stationed at 8TH and I Marine Barracks “The official residence of the Commandants of the Marine Corps” and the Oldest Post in the Marine Corps. One of the privilege’s at the Barrack’s is they are issued Dress Whites vs. Dress Blues which is a great honor. During my time at the Barracks I had the opportunity to participate in many Ceremonial Commitments from parades at the Iwo Jima Memorial, Friday Night Parades at the Barracks, Ceremonies at the White House, Inauguration in 1988 just to name a few. My Best accomplishment while in the Marine Corps was meeting my wife Michelle at Springfield Mall, in Virginia. We were married in 1988 at Fort Belvoir (in My Dress Whites) by Father Loug. Father Loug made me promise two things in order for him to marry Michelle and I. One was that I always make sure she got to church and two that I raised my kids Catholic. I have honored both of those commitments and we are still married today with three kids (2 boys and 1 girl) and a dog named PIP.
From 89-93 I Managed for Frank Meeks with Dominoes Team Washington for a number of years. You can say pizza was in my blood and still is. I learned a lot about business in those years from working for Dominoes and Frank Meeks. He was well respected entrepreneur. I knew that I would be working for myself at some point.
In 93′ World Savings and Loan gave me a shot as a loan officer. For those individuals that took a chance on me at World Savings and you know who you are “I say Thank You”. You help teach me a business that has given me so much and that I try to give back equally. After about a year I went to work for a local Mortgage Broker, where I found out another side of the mortgage business. I learned a lot from the owner of that company(Henry Savage, PMC Mortgage). He Also deserves a Thank You!
I incorporated First Meridian Mortgage Corporation in 1996 at the age of 29, and KSA Insurance Agency Inc. in 2004 and I have a Real Estate License with Jobin Realty since 2002.
In the Marine Corps we were taught many things to live by, but one Moto is part of my daily business. “If I am on time. I am late” I can contribute much of my success in the mortgage business to this one saying. I do not wait to make a phone call, and I am always proactive. To date I have never missed a closing date on a purchase transaction, this is a record that very few could say. I am also very proud to be listed in the TOP 200 Loan Officers by Volume in the nation multiple times by Scotsman Guide, Mortgage Executive, and Origination News. My fee structure with all my lenders is currently at a max of 1%. This is one of the lowest in town day in and day out. With this structure your interest rate will be lower and your credits larger than my competition. You will find our interest rates very competition.
I was asked by a client “Why I was so good at doing mortgages?” and I gave him the answer “I see the numbers in my head “. Later that night my answer to the question was bothering me! It was not the right answer. I thought about it for a few days and then it hit me. My life was nothing more than a game of inches. You see Mr. Stuckey and Mrs. Lawson would quiz us in 5-12 grade wood shop class on adding fractions of inches together. Remember “measure twice, cut once”.
I have originated a few billion dollars worth of loans in my life because I can add 1/8, 1/4, 1/2 fractions in my head. To Mr. Stuckey, Mrs. Lawson and my other shop teachers, my life is about an inch, to them I SAY THANK YOU!
I love my family with all my heart and soul. My wife is my partner and my best friend and my children are the best of both of us and truly blessings in our lives.
I am a Marine, I am catholic, I have red hair, I am stubborn, I believe I can do anything better than most, and If I fail I try again and learn from my mistakes.
